Walt Disney World With Little Kids: Rides, Shows & Height Requirements
Want magical park days without meltdowns or guesswork? I specialize in Disney for families with tots—this is your quick, reliable roadmap. Use the per-park lists below to pick rides and shows that match your child’s age/height!
Quick Tools Every Parent Should Know
- Rider Switch (a.k.a. Child Swap). If a child doesn’t meet a height requirement or doesn’t want to ride, one adult waits with them while the other rides—then you swap without re-queuing. Ask a Cast Member at the entrance; details & participating attractions here. RIDER SWITCH
- Baby Care Centers (in all 4 parks). Air-conditioned spaces for feeding, changing, nursing, and quiet time—lifesavers with toddlers. Locations and what’s inside here. BABY CARE CENTERS

Planning Tips
- Alternate rides with shows and playgrounds—break up stimulation and heat- plan those indoor rides and shows mid day, during the peak of the heat!
- Use Rider Switch so parents can still enjoy thrill rides without double waits.
- Lean on Baby Care Centers for feeding, nursing, or regrouping.
- Plan Mid Day Lunch Breaks in cool air condtioning, many families think to make dinner reservations instead but we find that a cool mid day break is better than trying to break at witching hour when meltdowns are more likely.
- Measure kids without shoes Disney’s height markers are known to be a little higher to accommodate for shoes. We have found if your kiddo hits the height WITHOUT shoes, they’ll be good to go in the parks. If you have a child close to the listed requirement be prepared to have them measured multiple time along the way in the lines. PRO TIP: Practice standing nice and tall at home, this helps makes a difference!
- Save high-height rides for a “special someday” list—kids love knowing what’s waiting for them on the next trip! PRO TIP: Ask a Cast Member at the entrance of the attraction—many have special “Come Back When You’re Taller” cards they can give your child as a keepsake and fun goal for the future.
- Arrive Early and “Rope Drop” When You Can
Getting to the park before official opening time—known as rope dropping—can make a huge difference. The first hour of the day typically has the lowest wait times, letting you knock out popular attractions before the crowds build. If you’re a Walt Disney World Resort guest you can access the parks 30 minutes early with the early entry perk! Bonus: little ones are usually at their happiest and most energetic in the morning!
- Pick Three Must-Do’s Per Day
I always encourage families to choose THREE MUST DO’s for each park day. Anything beyond that is a bonus! When you follow your kids’ lead, that’s when the real magic happens—unplanned moments often become your favorite memories. REMEMBER- Your kids won’t know what they’re missing.
Disney has designed its parks so even the smallest guests have a full day’s worth of fun. Their attractions and shows are meant to be immersive so that the experience is perfect for every age and stage.
